Description: L’itoi Clumping Onion is a unique heirloom bunching onion prized for its ability to produce large clumps of small, elongated bulbs. Originally associated with the L’itoi people of southern Arizona, this perennial onion is extremely productive and easy to grow. Rather than forming one large bulb, each planted bulb divides and multiplies into a cluster, allowing a single plant to develop into a substantial clump over time. The mild, slightly sweet onions and green leaves can both be harvested for cooking.

L’itoi Onion is particularly well suited to permaculture and low-maintenance food gardens because it can be left in the ground year after year, with outer bulbs harvested while the remaining clump continues growing. It multiplies readily, making it easy to propagate and share, and its compact growth habit means it can be planted along garden edges, between other crops or in dedicated perennial beds. Once established, it provides a dependable ongoing supply of onions with minimal effort.
